With the Razor Crest recently built, its time for another couple of quickies (I hope!)

I'll build these two together, and see if I can improve on the Dropship

This variant from the same stable was built many years back, and never really finished the paint job/seam coverage.
Was made from thick cardstock, which really hampered the build.

As I progress with the other two, I'll see about patching this Dropship up to look a little bit better.
Although you can't really see this gaping void, I will attend to the 'hole'

In this episode Adam presents the original filming miniature of the Surface Seeker. The video is really worth checking out because you will not get any views at the model better than those. You can use them to flesh out the papercraft. My idea was to take screenshots, put them onto the papercraft and make a photorealistic texture. I put the idea on the back burner because Jan's model already has an awesome texture and (of course) I don't have the time for it now. ;)

Cheers for the link, I do love a bit of Adam looking at props.
Not caught up with this one yet, but I will give it a look at some point, much appreciated for the content info.

Much like yourself, time is my arch enemy, so these will be very quick builds with no mods whatsoever, other than paint.

I think every model you see has 'that' potential ;) Sadly not on this build

I think the 'weight' is an often over-looked tool to assist on the model-bench.

A few favourites, other than a good book, are my newly acquired engineering blocks, the helping hand with is cast base, a mini dumbbell, two £5 coins (only legal tender on the island of Jersey!) and what I'm presuming to be a lead button I found... doesn't look much, but as buttons go "its weighty!" just enough to keep things in the right direction.

The Seeker is now waiting in the wings, ready for paint.

Attention now turns to the Dropship.

Cut, creased and ready for action...
There's a LOT going on at the front of the Dropship, and even though I know what this craft looks like, over-familiarity can lead to mistakes.
I decided to make sure all the singular pieces here where at the stage they needed to be before dry fitting every part.

"Chaos" well sort of... lots of sub-assemblies dotted about ready for coming together.

One thing to keep track of when building this model is the part number and the tab locations.
Some parts have them and others do not - thus I made sure all numbers and tabs were labelled before construction.

Front main mid-section successfully married to the mid-cargo hold.
Didn't get this right on the first build, just shows that using a suitable cardstock really pays off.

Forward section nearing completion on the upper.
The frontal air intakes were becoming annoying, despite me labelling everything, they just weren't playing ball.

The thing here was me noticing the inboard front, compared to the wing side was slightly larger, so I went with that, I not fussed here as to whether they are the right way round or not, I just wanted a decent fit.
The front tab and the tiny inner tab on the intakes are also mis-leading if you are not paying attention, further study of the filming miniatures was needed to gather information on how those front intake flaps fit.

With careful study and arranging the parts in front of me, the brain was re-booted and clarity was had.
