Now then, here comes a biggie. You all know this fantastic thread:


MikeBer's great build and re-mastering report inspired me to make a companion set for the Razor Crest. I won't tell anything yet because the project is still in its infant stages but you may guess what it might be if you like. ;)

OK, you got me! I'm doing it! :D

Now as the cat is out of the bag you might wonder how I could be able to do it. The kit I mentioned above does not come with a PDO which could be converted into another editable format easily. However, there is a nice RC model available on the SketchUp Warehouse:

I'm using this as a base and will adapt the final shape of the parts to match the Roland Tari model. In addition, there is the smaller 1/250 scale model by Rawen which I will be building first to get a feel of the overall structure of the ship.

Everything else will be based mainly on the beautiful HasLab RC you can see here:

Make like a Jawa and strip it for parts or simply place it on its specially-molded stand.

Of course some artistic license will be taken because the dimensions of the vehicles differ but in essence you will see everything on the final product spread out on the canvas.

The plan:

Studying Mike's build progress I would say that I'll start with the most prominent piece, the cockpit. My plan is to make an inverted box that fits right below the canopy frame. It looks like the frame itself is constructed on a rectangular base plate, so it should be relatively easy to install that box. The SU model suggests this, too. That box will then be filled with an interior tub with the dashboards, seats and greeblies. This should be similar to what Rhaven and I did with the Thunderfighter.

Now a very important note:

I don't know how stable the rest of the ship is when I cut open its belly (I'm waiting for the revision to be complete to take a look). Maybe it will need the formers and reinforcements inside in order to maintain its shape. So at this point adding an opening hatch with cargo bay is not part of the plan. Cockpit is first and should be doable. If the model proves to be stable I will think about everything else later.

@Awry_Chaos : The combination of 3D printing people and organs reminds me of "The Island" with Ewan McGregor..! ;)

A little teaser of the upcoming Mando figure:

I photographed my Black Series figure from the front and the back. Then I did a small "head transplant" and added the helmet of the real costume to the front view because the Black Series helmet is a bit squished. Finally I gave him something to work with (so that he doesn't fall over ;) ), his Beskar spear. This was a picture of the original prop. At least two layers of paper will be required to bring him to life. Maybe I'll give him some tissue paper and a steak to beef him up a bit, too, we'll see. So stay tuned! :)

Thank you! Yes, I agree. This is gonna be one of the most elaborate builds I have ever made. EVER.

The way to display all the innards of the Crest might be intimidating but I have a plan. The most important thing is to spread out everything all over the canvas. And I mean ALL of it. ;)

BTW, to all who are worrying about the other projects that are in the making: I have developed a sophisticated schedule for this project. It will be done in a flash because I am taking advantage of a new SketchUp plugin I have developed. More on that later. ;)

A new Sketchup plug-in? Sweet! Your amazing talents go beyond designing and modeling. I didn't know you were a programmer too.
 
Oh, I'm not a programmer at all. I was just thinking, hey, it would be practical if you had something that could give you instant results, and tinkered around a bit with some code. Well, I'll show you what it is soon. But please don't take anything I say here too seriously. This build is just for fun. THIS is the serious stuff. ;)
