Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Any tips on the best way to cut a hole in an object? Example: You have Cube, you wish to cut a hole though the cube and then insert a cylinder thought the hole. The diameter of the cylinder is smaller than the hole in the cube so the internal face needs to be solid. Hope that's clear. Cheers JTF

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

I've re-scaled the drawing to 1/72. I have top, bottom, front, left side, right side and cross section in one jpeg. File size 1.39MB. I have an old PC but all seems to run OK on the above numbers. I'll cut up my old 1/48 scale version into exterior parts when it come to getting detail like air...

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Jaybats, I was wondering what is the best scale to work in? I've been working on a background "img" of a plane at a scale of 1/48. When I load it up the program runs a bit sluggish and I've still got some more views to add. The tail alone is almost the same size as the mesh. Would I be better...

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Sorry Jaybats, poor wording on my part. Q. Do ever need to ATTACH the separate OBJECTS together to make one OBJECT or can you leave them as they are for further adjustment? or Q. By the end you have 5 objects. Is it better this way or do you merge then to make one object. Cheers JTF

This is excellent. You are saving me hours of trial and error. I've play with with the mapping but could never get over the distortion. But now the sun is starting to peak though the clouds. Q. Do ever need to fix the separate part together to make one or can you leave them as they are for...

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

That's how I ended up doing it. It got messy with all the points, but then I found the "Hide" function which made life a lot simpler. Looking for towards the next tutorial so I can start adding the wings etc. Cheers JTF

Better Modeling with Meta/Pep/P.N – Tutorial 1: Introduction

Thanks to your tutorial I have just completed the fuselage on my first design. I created the initial shape by following the tutorial. However as fuselage is more egg shaped so it needed some modifying. I had some cross sections which I had on the img so I used them as a guide. I ended up...

    Designing Cardmodels - Paragon Style

Hi Paragon, great design style. I'm current working on a design using Metasequoia / pepakura following a tutorial elsewhere in the forum. Your system looks so much simpler on paper, (sorry, poor joke), I though I'd do your style in parallel and see which method give the best time taken by...
