New ones came in today. nice smooth jaws. I will have to slim the outside down a little bit because the jaws are to beefy compared to what I like.
I ordered 4 so I have a good supply.
Until I decide what I want to build next I decided to build the jumper. I have started this 3 times but never finished. I printed it 3 times to greeble it :)
Sorry about the first photo.... I could not keep my hand from shaking.
Over the past year and a half, I've been using a white background board. I made it by taking an USPS one rate game box, cutting it open and painting the inside white. I will, at some time in the future, build a proper photo booth.
My dad had a 12" one that somehow keep getting the handle broken (it was not me... it was Nick my little brother just younger then me). Little pipsqueak kept putting a pipe on the handle to get extra leverage. They kept replacing the handle... no problem. MAN!!!! I miss those times. You just...
one thing I know that would work,.... take it to someone that can weld stainless steel, and have them run a bead on each jaw, then file it down. But that would not be cost effective. As my dad would say..... "that is like putting a $100 dollar patch on a $2 dollar tire"
He he he... I tried that in the past.... didn't work. By the time I got the teeth filed off of both sides... I had a gap between the jaws that would barely hold to a 1mm thick piece of cardboard. I've been using it to clamp the cardboard to cardboard when I need double thickness.
After 34 years of service, my favorite pair of hemostats broke. :(
I ordered new ones.... and I made sure that the description said "smooth Jaw" what I got in was anything but "smooth jaw"
So I have a new order in at a different supplier.
Thank you everyone for the kind words.:noteeth::biggrin:
1 thing that I have noticed in building these, each one that I have built (so far) the inside of the "rubber tire" is about .5mm smaller in Dia. then the outside of the "wheel rim" where it is supposed to mount.
Next update: I finally got some time to work on this again. I got the wheels made, and the convertible top made. I still have more "massaging" to do to the hood, and reskin the radiator.
next update: exhaust made and installed, bonnet made and installed. I still have to "Massage" the bonnet into shape. I get it to fit and look good for about 5 min. then it returns to an unwanted shape :realmad::headbange::realmad::headbange::realmad::headbange::realmad:
I will probably re-skin it at some point before I finish.
yesterday's update: I had the picts.... just did not have time to post yesterday.
I do not like that HUGE open space in the fuel tank... I know it will be covered with the tires.... but I intend to close it up before I mount the tires...
I remember watching the scene where they are riding the lift down, and thinking to myself that it must be mounted to a forklift, because of the way it bounced around as it lowered.
are you going to make a forklift to attach to the lift from behind the wall?  :biggrin...
