If I were going to do my layout again, I would make a bottom loop for a subway and hidden storage tracks behind the subway. In fact due to the way I constructed the bench-work, L-Girder, it might still be possible.

Mornining everybody. It is 39 degrees and cloudy in Buckeyland where we are saying "Go Oklahoma". With Bachman's purchase of Williams, will we see a new type of O Scale track based upon Bachman's HO/N type of track? :?

Kurt, I'll give you a reason. It is much easier to cut foam that is 1" or less. Two inch foam is very hard to cut with the hot wire cutters that are on the market. Been there, done that. I wished I had used one inch foam.

In the book, Scenery Tips and Techniques from Model Railroader Magazine, there is an article titled "Casting Rock Walls - Boheminan Style". Basically they make rock walls like a sheet cake. Has anyone ever built anything like this?

Chief - Maybe we should go into the MTH Switch fixing business. When they work, they really are great, but when they don't, it is very hard to tell what is wrong. Big weekend on tap in Buckeyeland. Parties and more parties. Free beer! Free food! Loose women! Doesn't get much better than...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part II

Chief, finally found the cause of the problem. In fact it was two things. First the movable points were too long on the frog end. Ground them off. Second, inside the switch the actual piece (white plastic) that thows the points has two slots that stop the throw. I had to lengthen the slots...

Chief, I found, when I took the thing apart that under the movable points there was a connection that was really rough. I filed it smooth. The wire seems to be going all the way down. I am using track power, 18 volts, 360 watts and all of my other swithes just snap in place. I am...
