JSC 1:400 HMS Norfolk and The Road To Recovery

Yay, I finally finished the ship tonight. I'm really happy how it turned out. No real sticking points to it at all, so it's a good ship for an older kit. The photos don't show much of the rigging I did on it, but it's there, hehehe.... Now to see what's next in my stack of ships...

JSC 1:400 HMS Norfolk and The Road To Recovery

I had some time today to continue working the ship. I got the gun directors and the secondary guns done. I mentioned it before in regards to the USS North Carolina, but I compared the HMS Dreadnought to the Norfolk. It continues to amaze me just how much ship development went in 35 years...

JSC 1:400 HMS Norfolk and The Road To Recovery

After getting a good dose of strained eyes from repeatedly switching between college hoops on the TV and the ship, I was able to get some work done on the ship last night. I sure hate torpedo tubes! -Ski

JSC 1:400 HMS Norfolk and The Road To Recovery

Hilarious! I wasn't paying attention to the diagram and accidentally glued on the superstructure backwards! Luckily, I was able to cut it off and turn it around. Silly me.... The funnels are somewhat ok. They look a lot better in person, fortunately. I also found that the railing on the...

JSC 1:400 HMS Norfolk and The Road To Recovery

Thanks everybody! I'm not too happy with how the funnels turned out. The cardboard I copied to was a bit on the thick side . They should look better when trimmed and painted anyways, hehehe.... I have them here just sitting on the ship. -Ski

Sorry to hear about that. I hope it doesn't discourage you from doing other 1:400 ships. You had one hell of a good start on it, though. Cudos..... -Ski

You know, I didn't have the waviness problem with mine. However, it makes sense since I photocopied it first on a bit heavier stock. Some of the waviness will come out as you add superstructure. -Ski

    Digital Navy's "new" V108

Looking good so far. After the first ship, you will start getting an innate sense of how to construct them without much help from the instructions, which makes it a lot easier! Keep up the great work! -Ski
