Maybe it's slightly off topic, but the same idea: I had a friend in the hospital last year after a car accident. I built him a model of Bender (the robot from the TV show Futurama) instead of the same old get well card. He liked it a lot more than a card, and he kept it longer than flowers...

Okay, here's a question: Would it be possible to use a customized avatar from Second Life as a 3D model, and somehow convert it into paper? I know someone who would really love to have her avatar as a real life figurine. But I can't figure out how to get the avatar into Pepakura or something...
