Scratch built turn out and the use of PC boards

shear nonsense Maybe, if the pc board isn't too thick, a heavy duty paper cutter might work...then again maybe not. It would have to be able to cut at least the thickness of the material you are cutting. And be sure to keep your fingers out of the way!!!:eek:

Model Railroader Mags On my original post,I failed to mention that among the goodies my wife bought, was a large box of old Model Railroader Magazines. They probably aren't in any sort of order, or sequence, but I have found several dating back to 1958! What's cool is that in looking at the...

    Bachmann Spectrum consolidation issue

If you are going to be soldering on PC board, don't forget to use heatsinks. Wooden pincer type clothes pins, with the spring, work best.

    Java Model Railroad Interface

I worked with a young man in SoCal who left the parts store, and went to work for PG & E. (Pacific Gas and Electric.) While working as a "meter man," he designed a new type wrench that would enable repairmen to more easily turn off gas valves that were located in underground boxes, (similar to...

    Train Show

Well, now, I saw a very old photograph of one in a book, that refered to it as an "Alligator." And since the alligator is now refered to as an American Crocodile... or is it the other way around??? Anyway, I apologize for the error. My bad.

    Java Model Railroad Interface

I have subscribed to Open Office.org, and really enjoy using it. If I found a code that I thought I could modify to make money, I'd certainly make sure I had everyone's permission before I'd try to do it. I've had friends that wrote computer code while they were working for someone ealse. Then...

'gators One of the items my wife saw for sale at the show, was an alligator electric loco. They must be rare, because the seller was asking $1500 for it. It looked in mint condition, tho. When I see items like that, I don't look at them for too long. Otherwise my poor feeble brain says, "Oooh...

    Working cars and roadways?

cool epaw: I once worked as a DJ. We had two commercial large reel to reels, that had pre-recorded messages, etc. on them. I discovered that if I recorded a record, and played it back simultaneously, I could get a really cool echo.

    IKEA benchwork

laying it all down Well, I know I'm a cheapskate, but I plan to use old doors for my top surfaces. If you have a "Habitat for Humanity" Store nearby, you can always pick up some used hollowcore doors for a couple of bucks, each. I have a bunch of old bi-fold closet doors that I plan to use...
