Just a thought... Most Nolix layouts aren't a constant grade, but have flat areas at yards, towns, etc. Anywhere you have switching going on. Otherwise you get rolling stock taking a loooong roll to the bottom anytime you decouple them. Also, realize that _starting_ on a grade from a standstill...

I forgot to mention, one other change I made. I would push the "top" curve as far back as possible - your limiting factor there seems to be the track leading to staging on the right which must clear the wall you've indicated... So I actually proposed two changes to what Trainclown suggested...

I think trainclown has hit upon your best possible solution, which is to manage the grades so that your staging can run under the helix. I would, myself, de-complicate the actual suggestion for a staging environment, though. Get rid of what appear to be runaround, loco storage, etc. tracks in...

Clark, I'm confused... Where are the helix entrance/exit points on the staging level? Is that the "mainline" you show (i.e. the mainline running through lower level staging), or is that the main level mainline and the staging entrance/exit is 'free form' off the helix?

Antonio - I came down to the same "final two" when I went DCC. I ended up with the Lenz in the end, only because I knew I was likely to overburden the PA's amperage limit. Having said that, a key consideration is the throttle - the "interface" you'll be using constantly to run your trains...
