    Russian Tsarist battleship Tri Svatiteliya

Thanks JHS Thanx for the kind words. I prefer working on non-kit subjects, but I admire the craftmanship of those who work with kits, especially kits in the larger 1/200 & 1/250 scales, which are very highly detailed. I'm not sure I have the patience (and maybe other attributes) for that kid...

    Russian Tsarist battleship Tri Svatiteliya

Tri Svatiteliya was the second Tsarist battleship that I built. Three pictures are shown below. Tri Svatiteliya's superstructure was later reduced (cut down) so that her appearance was markedly different during WWI, in which she was active in operations with the Black Sea fleet.

    Tsarist battleships project

Oslabya To Scott K: Thanks for the link to the Oslabya model and the forum comments on the model. The discussion about the model was very interesting. For some reason, I have not been able to download the model. Anyway, I don't think I would have tried to make it based upon the comments...

    Tsarist battleships project

Thanks Thank you all for your kind comments. I also find old naval vessels intriguing. Navarin is an especially interesting design. The four funnels arranged in pairs astride are unique, giving rise to the ship's being called "the factory." She had an unfortunate end as a unit in Admiral...

    Tsarist battleships project

First installment This is my first installment, the Tsarist battleship Navarin. I always put off the harder projects for later, so this is a pretty simple model.

    Tsarist battleships project

One of my ongoing projects is building a series of non-kit models of Tsarist predreadnought battleship classes. I will be posting a few pictures over the next few days of those ships that I have completed so far. I hope you will find it interesting.

    USS Pennsylvania

Building cardmodels I sympathize with you. Sometimes things just don't go smoothly. I find that even when I do everything correctly, there are lumps where there shouldn't be. And sometimes there are misalignments or accidental blemishes. You can start over, which may involve a great...

    H.G. Watkins - BB43 USS Tennessee

14 inch barrel lengths As Jim's pictures show, the barrels are about the length of the turrets. I checked my Encyclopedia of the World's Warships, which has a very nice plan and profile color drawing of the modernized Tennessee. Better stop and build longer ones now and save yourself the...

    USS Pennsylvania

warped deck I sympathize with your frustration & feel your pain. Just hate it when I spend a lot of time on something and unexpectedly something goes wrong. Fortunately, it is cardboard and you can (if the will is still there) reprint the deck and do it again. I once completed a built a...

    JMSDF Kongo

Kongo Bluenoser: Thanks for posting the pictures. I was wondering what the completed model would look like when built by someone other than the designer. It looks quite good for a free model. I have a pre-Pentium computer without a zip drive so I have not downloaded the model or even seen...

scratchbuilt Spanish cruiser Infanta Maria Teresa

scratchbuilding Infanta Marie Teresa Nobody does scratchbuilding rails easily or (usually) well. It is harder than it looks. Thats why there is a ready market for laser cut ones. But yours look good. I am looking forward to your updates on this very interesting project.
