    Marat in 1/450 scale

The Russian battleship Marat (after modernization) is in my mind one of the most striking battleships ever built. Many years ago (1998 or 1999), I built a model of Marat based upon rudimentary drawings that I had obtained from INRO. My father-in-law was very interested in my ship model...

HMS Triumph (korea) HMS Colossus (1945)

Barry: thx for the clarification for my edification and the close-up. By the way, how big are the Corsairs & the Barracuda? They look tiny.

HMS Triumph (korea) HMS Colossus (1945)

Just noticed that the Corsairs have USA markings. Shouldn't they be changed? Those planes are soo tiny. Must be difficult getting them to look something like the original. Good work so far.

Thanks, Redhorse, Elliot, & Paperboy. Paperboy: Yes, I built a South Carolina, but it was not successful as the cagemasts were overscale. It was the first US battleship I tried to build in paper. A couple more photos:

Seems I haven't got the hang of inserting attachments. I think my photo sizes may have been too large. Here are the first 2 shots.

    Delaware

This is a model I made a long time ago. It was built by mistake in 1/500 scale. At the time, I envisioned building one example of each US dreadnought class in plastic or paper. In paper, I build in 1/550 scale although I am not particular in plastic. I discovered the scale error when I laid...

    H.G. Watkins USS Houston question

paperboy: Nice start. It appears you have the hang of scratchbuilding. Hull looks good and the superstructure seems to be coming along fine.

Good start! I bet the shorings for the casemate may approximated those in the original ironclad.

Digital Navy V-108 1:200 scale version

You have an original construction technique for the hull, I must say. Somehow, the hull looks good. A little thinking out of the box, huh? The interesting thing about card modelling is that there is more than one way to accomplish a task and the conventional way of doing it might not be the...
