Hawthorne Village 50th Anniversary Corvette Train

Wildcat, the 70 was marlboro maroon with black interior. I'm trying to downsize a pic so I can get it on here. Will try again tomorrow. bob

Hawthorne Village 50th Anniversary Corvette Train

Casey, I sent my grandsons your pic of the Corvette train and they both want one. They're into trains in a big way. I've seen to that. So, where can I get one. It doesn't even have to run. Don't worry about that guy above. That's one in a thousand. You'll find most here are pretty good people...

Hawthorne Village 50th Anniversary Corvette Train

Brings back memories of my old 70 Corvette that I had for 25 years. Wish I still had it. But the new owners have really fixed it up. It looks better than ever. bob

My Chrismas Haul from Grandma hehehe

Hey Josh, I use that dense foam from the art stores (Michaels) sold here in CA. You can get it 2" thick or 1' or 1/2 " in black, white or green. No mess at all with that. It does cost more, but how much do you really need. It comes in 36" lengths by 12". I carve it with one of those hot wire...

    Cattle Call

Re: stockyard pics, very nice job Wayne, but it looks so bare. Our auction out here in NorCal, about 4 miles from my ranch, has hundreds of animals and cowboys by the dozen. It also has a cattle truck area, RR spur, pavilion, western store and restaurant. It's the largest auction on the west...

    radioactive waste prototype

Dave, glad you got your pic on the gauge ok. Looks good. What is that thing on the flat. What kind of nuclear waste goes in there? Anyway, I want one. Re: the rails, that is old track but at least they're not wooden. Is that you on the billboard? bob

    HO in the 70's

I started in the early 70's with Atlas and Tyco and later with AHM's. Don't miss them too much. But it was still fun. Later went to Marklin. When I think about then and now, the technology of today is just amazing. Who would have thought.

    A real challenge to me.

I've been running these things for the last 35 years and I'm having more fun then ever. I concur with Docwayne that the room itself makes all the difference. I've never had problems since I moved the layout into it's own room. Also the equipment is so much better than in earlier times. You...

Cool hot rod pond--update Here's the latest nuclear cooling pond pic. No cool, blue glow yet, but it's coming soon. Next will be the fuel rod holders in the bottom of the pit and a few rods. Then the cool blue green glow like Arco, ID. bob

    A real challenge to me.

Sounds like dust in the air is the main culprit no matter what system we use. Also, as said above, a low ceiling as well as the smallest overall room area helps too. It all comes down to the quality of the room we use. When I used to run in a garage I had all sorts of problems, also that was...

    A real challenge to me.

I've never had to clean wheels or track in over 2 years of constant running. But I am using a completely different system than most on this forum. It's a Marklin AC system where the track is the common for metal wheels and the small studs in the middle of the track are the hot side for a...

How to put your picture on this forum D.R.Rosser, yes, I figured it out a while back. 1. Get your picture file in a form with a tag such as .jpg and try to get it under 50 kb for best results. 2. Know where it is on your hard drive 3. Go to the post you want to reply to 4. Let it all come in...

    Are your trains an escape?

We have a lot of very nice and talented people in model railroading. It's been very enlightening to read all the comments on this thread.

Hot rod pool cut out SF Jack, tomd81, colton, et al, here is a pic of the cooling pond cut into the foam next to the nuclear power plant. It's about 16 ft. scale deep. Notice that it's already in green foam so lighting with blue LED's may be just right. I may not have to paint the inside...

    radioactive waste prototype

Colton and SF Jack, you could be right since the physics would have one believe that it would be more of a bluish hue. However, I'm sure it was more of a greenish blue but I also was looking at them through a lot of water and I was trying to get out of there as fast as I could. Also, guys, that...

    Are your trains an escape?

Green EC, hey thanks for all that, I mean starting the hobby and all. I wondered too along with nkp174. Funny, but, I heard that "Marklin" started it a long time ago. 19th century? Sort of. No matter, as far as time travel, I do that everytime I go out a billion light years with my...

    radioactive waste prototype

SF Jack, I think I'll use 2 green LED's in series with a 9 V battery and 1K ohm resistor in the line. That way I can put the circuit with the battery and a switch just below the base of the layout and won't have to run extra wires out there. Do you think that will work? I found a nice large...
