Sweet, I've wanted to do a bike for quite a while now but the ones on Yamaha's site have always seemed daunting to me. This looks like just the ticket. Printed and already started on it. :thumb:
Thanks!
Finished the skeleton. The picture actually magnifies the wavy parts, but believe it or not...the top is straight as a rail like it should be. Any "waviness" will be removed when I fit the skins..still lots of sanding/shaping to do. Yes, I'm a total noob at this.
Padre, fantastic build. Can I ask how good are the instructions? Are they 3d or 3 view? Detailed enough to let a "ship newbie" attempt something like that? What's the maximum size paper that you need? Anything bigger than 8.5x11?
I'm really digging the Savage and Selfridge. Thanks for...
Well gents, I came about a nanometer away from scrapping this project. The more I got looking at the parts and directions (or lack thereof), the more scared I got, especially considering the small size. Then I thought of just doubling the size so the parts would be more manageable but the...
Fred, you live in Windsor? No way! I live there, too. Near Giles and Oullete. In fact I can see Hotel Dieu Hospital from my front porch. LOL, it truly is a small world.
Thanks for the tip, too.
Thanks for the tips guys! Unfortunately, I already had about 1/3 of the formers cut out (my fingers hurt!!!!) to the exact size --and I ain't starting over!!! :p-- so I'm gonna do the sanding/nail file thingie. The boss has no shortage of those for sure. :thumb:
And since dinner got moved...
Thanks for the tip. Joining strips is exactly what I was going to do. Dang. Oh well, guess I'll make some duplicate formers and paste them on both sides of the primary ones. Will give me more surface area to work with. Plus i'll use the scanned skins for test fitting, that way i don't have...
Well, this is going to be my first foray into commercial models. Which also means my first time with edge coloring and former laminating. I'm scared!
One of the reasons I chose a sub is the much less detail compared to other types of models (only 2 pages)...plus it was only a...
Actually, I got three models:
And seeing as how these are my first commercial models, and therefore uber detailed, I'm gonna start with the Archerfish sub. It's only 2 pages of parts and much less detailed. I gotta ease into this slowly lest I screw EVERYTHING up. :thumb:
So for now...
So, Chris, is that a show stopper? I just received mine in the mail today and it looks great. But they must be joking...they print the instruction diagrams on the back of the formers page? :curse::cry:
Great job so far, Chris. I just put an order through papermodelstore.com for this one (plus a sub and a chopper). Now you get to de-bug this one for me. :thumb:
Sigh. I really hate you guys with this much talent.
But seriously, absolutely incredible.
Edit - HAHA...my brother, who is a WWII fanatic was looking over my shoulder at those pics. "BS, those aren't paper.", he says. Little does he know.
Great job so far. What's the thickness of the formers? 1mm? If so, did you buy 1mm cardboard or use stuff like cereal boxes or shirt cardboard like I did for my shuttle Tydirium?http://forum.zealotmodels.com/t150655/
I forget which thread it's in but someone said 2 110lb and 1 67lb sheets...
