A late Thank You and Apology

First off I thank you for the Happy B-Day but I also owe many of you an apology for my absence and falling short of meeting expectations (if there was any to be had). It's been near impossible to find free time anymore and this is the first time I've checked my email in six weeks. Alas my...

    Would it be cheating...

You live by the sword, you die by the sword. Again it comes from being a purist. I'm at the point if I have to use something other than paper then don't mention anything about it. What they don't know can't hurt me. I know that sounded cloak and dagger, well... a model maker needs to have...

    Scaley Armor effect

Thank you all so much for the feedback. I'm going to do extensive experiments this weekend. If all else fails I may have to break the seal of secrecy and finally reveal a few things.

    Scaley Armor effect

Tiles are probably a more practical approach although my friend requested to have a scaley effect. I'm guessing he's asking to have some sort of overlap, dunno I'm still in experimental stages. My last gf was into latex, no luck there I'm afraid.

    Scaley Armor effect

Holy crap, that looks awesome!!! :thumb: So just find something of that sort with a hexagonal pattern? I was looking for something 3-Dimensional (making the actual scales) on the actual model itself but I'm at wits end and I'm willing to try anything short of burning my own model to start...

    Scaley Armor effect

This is a rather weird question but I've been here long enough I doubt that is anything new coming from me. Anyway... I like a time effecient method to make the effect of hexagonal "scales" on the armor of a vehicle I'm working on for a friend. Since I do not print out my models...

    Amazing B17 Story

Only thing scarier I imagine is being on the ground and actually hearing that gatling gun roaring off nearby. Even though they were practicing from base at the time not far where I lived I still got goosebumps. I pity a tanker at the business end of those things.

6 Foot PAPER Battlestar Build by “Uncle” Joe Thornton

It dwarfs anything I've made and it's the old School Galatica for some extra awesome points. :thumb: Very impressive indeed.

    Amazing B17 Story

I was very young when I watched The Mission from Amazing Stories when it came on tv one night as a repeat. A B-17 saved by a cartoonist, I honestly couldn't have thought that one up. This story of the All American and the Memphis Belle are testaments to this plane's incredible...

    Jokes

A pastor was holding a sermon about resurrection and he asked the crowd if anyone knew what resurrection was. A 6 year old boy rose up with a smile on his face, so proud to know the answer and said: “It’s when if you have it for more than 4 hours you should call a doctor.”

    The paperless Future - Emma

I weep for the species. I found the entry funny but you do hit on an important matter in American society that young folks these days are losing the ability to write properly. History likes to repeat itself that once you lose the ability to write the language that said language goes extinct...

    Mechs versus Tanks

As much as I dislike Warhammer 40,000 and GW's business shenanigans they do have some really cool models and concepts like the Titans. Titans are huge walking fortresses (especially if you get into the Emperor class Titans) are big huge targets. Every gun on the field will be trained on that...

    Mechs versus Tanks

First of all you touched on some of my favorite sci-fi series and this will make things interesting. Second of all, welcome back Zathros. Third of all not all mechs has a single pilot. Some mechs are known to have two like helicopters. Mechs are very sophisticated with a lot of weapon...

    That's the painfully obvious answer...

    Mechs versus Tanks

Do not fret, you still made a good point. :thumb: If you really want to get to the nuts and bolts of it both tanks and mechs amount to death traps. Even in modern tanks a Kinetic Penetrator has that tendency to overpressure and literally cook the crew and immolate everything inside causing the...

    Mechs versus Tanks

I did say in my opening post that I wanted to exclude the anime mecha because of the ridiculousness in the argument and going into fandom versus reality as you say. Anime mechas are about as unbelivable as unicorns and dragons which is why I wanted to focus on what would be a realistic take on...

    Mechs versus Tanks

Mechwarrior had an emphasis of doing away with radical guidance systems and such of today in favor of pilot gunnery skills of the like. Made a gamey mechanic more appealing and fluffwise although not believable in the realism department that we would do away with guidance tech that far into the...
