John John, try printing the rails on inkjet printer transparency film. See the "Tufor" and "Helena" threads to see how the railings look installed.

HMS Hood - scaled down Halinski 1/250

The tin can does give some perspective....the photos just don't give the idea of how BIG these models are, even reduced down a bit. Will make a great diorama.

Man, that is one whole bunch of pins. If your luck is anything on cutting them, about one end goes flying off into the carpet for every five I cut....your work area must be a barefoot-free zone hazard area. My wife insists I stay with the photocopied transparencies. You might try an Xacto pin...

Thanks, Maurice. I wish I knew how you keep those links sorted out. Ed, PM me with your email address and I'll send you a copy of the replacement turret file. It's sized to print out on letter paper at 150 dpi resolution.

Ed, I've been following your string fairly closely, since the Indy is one of the kits on my to-do list for upscaling to 1:250. It got pushed back because I managed to get ahold of the Wilhelmshaven kits, but it may have moved forward in the que again (at least for one small portion of it). The...

Ed, I didn't see your question about the acrylic protective coat until after I posted. My recommendation is to take some scrap cardstock, spray it and let dry, then try using it for some "typical" joins. I've found that spraying before assembly does help make glue slops easier to clean up, but...

Ed, I would recommend using round toothpicks. Break them in the middle, chuck them into the Dremel tool, and then use fine or medium grit sandpaper on a sanding block to get the taper and thickness shown on the plan template. The Indy has 8-inch main guns. In 1:400 scale, the diameter of the...

Don't get into the mindset that the Polish text of the instructions is a magic key needed to construct the model. Having some kits with both Polish and english text, I've found that the translation usually becomes something like"Cut out and fold up Part 1. Glue parts 2 through 5 to part 1."...

Downscaling aircraft models to 1:250? Another glutton for punishment. Welcome to the dark side. Once you convert to bmp, use the image size function in your graphics package to make your scale conversion. When the parts pages are converted, use the canvas size function to increase the...

Re the tweezers....look in the eye makeup section of your favorite drugstore or supermarket...the other half uses them for painful tribal rituals involving snatching hairs out by the roots (ouch....but not nearly as ouch as a kidney stone). That style tip also comes in a scissors-looking style...

This has been fun watching your alpha build come together. It makes me feel better knowing that I'm not the only one that has to go back to the drawing board occasionally (still a few pieces of the Blue that I am still scratching my head over how I managed to get so flippin' far off on the...

I thought I'd give an update. Still slaving away on the computer. My decision at the beginning was not to redraw this model, but try to go as quickly as possible to the buiding part after resizing the parts. Well, to make a long story brief, the color offsets of the original kit were just too...
