    Shipyard is open

The Ward has a fair amount of progress to show....however, it still doesn't really excite me that much. The T24 is showing definite promise....I'm glad it avoided the thundering hand of doom.

    Shipyard is open

Here is a shot of the fleet on the ways as of this moment. The T24 survives...fortunately, it appears that the fit problems were just with the first layer of the cake. Not much progress on the Z10. I decided to leave the T24 just as it was enlarged, but am doing a little kitbashing from...

    HMS Glowworm

A bridge too far....oh, groooaaaannnnnnn. At least it shows I'm not the only one into bad puns. The build is going great, Barry. If you think the electrics are crooked, just wait until you see the torpedo launchers on the Z10....with luck, I might be able to get some taken and posted tomorrow.

    new one - XF-85 Goblin

Yes, there is a FG kit. Maly Modelarz also released a kit....however, it would be nice to have a more advanced model available.

    new one - XF-85 Goblin

OMG....there goes the budget again. This will look so neat alongside my resin kit. Now for a suggestion for your next project.....the Pogo. Please, please, please?!!!!!!!

    Shipyard is open

Jim, the T24 survives, but only just. I suspect the problems I'm encountering in fit are from errors that might be noticible but tolerable at 1:400, but become glaring at 1:250. The sides came out about 3/16 inch too short, the sides at the bow are a good 1/4 inch too tall, etc. The straw...

    Shipyard is open

Jim, glad to see that someone is taking notice. I made egg-crate frameworks for all three ships. Not having a set of hull frames to work with, I was guessing a whole lot on the hull shape in the bow of the T24, and was hoping that with a minimal number of formers, the shape would work itself...

And back around the other side.

    Shipyard is open

Now the Z10. This one will definitely be on the redraw list. So far, it has been a fun build, and is fitting together quite nicely.

    Shipyard is open

Now the Ward. This attempt is coming out much better than the last attempt. The build is proving to be a bit of a challenge in trying to figure out how parts go together. For some reason, this model is proving more drudgery than fun...maybe the dark color of the kit is having a depressing...

    Shipyard is open

Some progress to report. The intent of these builds is to allow a minimal time input to see if the kit is worth the effort to redraw. The simultaneous build thing seems to be working in staving off the dreaded builders block. First, the least far along....the T24 torpedo boat. If anything...

    Shipyard is open

Jim, I'm making another try at the 1:250 enlargement of the JSC Ward, as well as enlargements of the JSC Z-10, and T-24. Man, the Z-10 class is big for a destroyer....more like a destroyer leader. I haven't done any redraws, other than design an eggcrate framework. I will likely add a little...

    Shipyard is open

Well, guys, I'm done with my little diversion into the aircraft forum. I can now affirm that, contrary to popular knowledge, building an airplane does not turn one into an insane, deviant monster. In fact, I have been oddly invigorated to get going on some back-burnered projects....all of...

    MAC-10 paper model

One of the more notorious soap guns was one carved by John Dillinger to accomplish one of his jail breaks. I have no problem with realistic paper models of guns, but would far rather that the subject was one with less of a negative connotation (like only gangstas have Mac 10s). I would truly...

    Wilhelmshaven 1:200 scale USS Constitution

Oh, Lordy, Jim, I just wish I could make mistakes that good.

    De Havilland DH-88 Comet

Looks as if my good intentions of getting ahead of the bills lose again. Looking forward to the files.

    JSC Indianapolis in 1:400

Well, for my own unbiased two cent's worth, I would recommend Maurice's contribution since it appears your building skills are up to that level of detail in so small a scale. To dig around in model appreciation 101, every type of model has a natural focal point. For aircraft carriers, it is...

JSC 1/400 Mikasa -- miscellaneous rambles

Chris, don't give up entirely on the JSC line....though I've got to admit the typical hull construction method totally sucks. They can be made into presentable models (as demonstrated by several of the recent build strings), but IMHO are much more difficult to get started than they should be...
