Very cool. It came just in time to answer some questions that raised during my beta build regarding some smaller parts at the heat exchanger.

Sorry, no, I don't have any idea when those will be ready to download. I guess Jan will release the reactor group first, followed by the engine. But both need still a lot of work to be ready to be released, the engine group, for example, is sitll containing un-textured parts.

Progress of the last weekend: Top superstructure done and mounted to the engine tube, bottom superstructure ready to be installed. I used two additional inner frames on the bottom parts to make sure that the shape will fit as good as possible.

Wooops, I posted this in the wrong thread! To keep this thread here complete I added the newest update here, too: I got unfinished parts of the engine for a kind of beta-build (thanks a lot, Jan!), this is the result: Then came the critical moment: Will magnets I want to use to attach...

    USS Sulaco / Aliens

I got unfinished parts of the engine for a kind of beta-build (thanks a lot, Jan!), this is the result: Then came the critical moment: Will magnets I want to use to attach the engine to the middle hull be strong enough so that I don't need an additional stand for it? See by yourself: In...

Yesterday I aligned the two main modules (bow and middle hull) on their acrylic bases and added some magnetic connections for detail parts (pylon, railguns) and to held the main sections together tight. This is how it looks now:

Reactor housing in shape due to the help of the two frames: I decided to glue the parts of the outer ring edge-to-edge instead of using the glue tabs. Here is the most outer ring: And this is how it looks alltogether. The complete rim is made out of 3 seperate rings. It was easier than I...

Start of the reactor housing, port side: I used 2 frames instead of just one. If I got the unmarked parts from Jan right his intention is to use only one frame for the housing, but I thought using 2 would make it easier to get the shape right.

Yesterday I finished the reactor core "sandwich". This is how it is looking now: It will be tough to get it mounted correctly, so that the flat end side will be exactly 90 degree to the ground level... otherwise the engine will later stick up or face down. I guess I'll use a couple of bubble...
