Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] - Part VI

Are we losing some of our posters or is it just the Summer doldrums? It's been 8 hours since the last post! I will be taking the daughter and family to BWI tomorrow so probably won't get time to post till Wednesday. I sent in my fee for the York meet today. October 16-18 that is where I...

Haven't been into any of the local shops in the last week, so don't know if any of the new Lionel or K-line catalogs are in yet. Will have to stop in some time this week. I haven't even had a chance to check them out on line, but it sounds like there isn't much that is new. That is good as I...

Good afternoon all, Back after a week's vacation to the Ocean City, MD, area (Ocean Pines for those familiar with the area). We rented two houses and took almost the whole clan. Jean and I, 3-kids & 2-spouses + 8 grandkids from 1 to 15. Needless to say it was an interesting week. We had...

Another hot one here, staying in the AC as much as possible. Got the Atlas Club car via UPS today. Very nice, a little new for the period I model but I can live with that. Here is what it looks like. I didn't take mine out of the box yet, that is a picture of the 2-rail version. Hope...

Me too, they are even stealing manhole covers around here. It takes at least 2 guys or one reeeealy big guy to do that and they only get about $10 for them, but it costs several hundred to replace them. They could stop this if they put some real teeth in the buying stolen property laws. This...

Chief, I'm a little confused, are Toyota dealers now drawing blood? Or are you just calling them blood suckers? Jeffrey, I am surprised that they let that car sit there, considering the price of scrap metal. Just last week some one stole a half mile of railroad track from the East Broadtop...

Don, I think you will enjoy it, just don't tell anyone that you are a 3-railer. Just kidding. I find a lot of interest at the multi-guage shows. The NMRA National convention was in Philly a couple of years ago and I wish I had taken the opportunity to attend.

Good evening all, Spent the day at TCA Museum today instead of Wednesday. When I walked in, Carol said "You know it's Tuesday!" No trains tonight, well sort of, I spent a couple of hours on a project that Don B. sent me. More later. Tomorrow to be another day out with daughter and...

Had a nice surprise this morning, found a package on the front porch. Had to wait till this evening to open it as we had a day with daughter and grand kids planned. Turned out to be the pair of Atlas RSD-7/15 locos that I had ordered as part of the Golden Spike Club. Set them up as TMCC...

After church and then breakfast, took the grandkids (from Colorado) trapshooting. They did good considering it was a first for one of them and the other had only shot a few times. After we got home, made steaks on the grill and then we had a brief, but wild storm that dropped 0.6" of rain in...

Good Morning (just barely). Pruned the roses back as the first bloom is over. Also cleaned up a section of the garden which had early crops. Only thing left in that section is onions and parsley. Squash and tomatoes are doing well in the other two areas. Can't take the heat anymore, the...

A belated bday1 Marcie. Those kits look like a lot of fun to build, but not for me anymore in the smaller gages. Post some pictures when you get them finished. Still cataloging pictures at TCA. Today I was working on a file of Toy Train related movies, never knew there were so many. I'll...

It's funny that you should mention that, when Buckeye and Laz were here we noticed a little puddle on the floor of the unfinished basement but could not figure where it came from, I figured I had just spilled something. Little did I know that it was the first sign of my major leak. wall1

Jeffrey, A belated bday1 and many more. We got 2 1/2 inches of rain yesterday and last night. Very good as it was slow and steady, not much run off. Corn and soy beans will really suck it up. We got our plumbing problem fixed and a few hours tomorrow and the painter will be done, then we can...

They would make some interesting loads for anyone modeling a modern RR. Afraid you would have to scratch build them yourself though. Ran some trains this evening, first in a little while. As Laz would say, no pile ups. Ahh the sweet smell of smoke fluid. :thumb:

Jeffrey, They are parts for wind turbines. The parts in the first picture are the hubs that the blades fit into - I think, don't know what the others are. Do a Google on the car numbers.

I don't have a clue. Weather here is still unsettled, been raining off and on since Thursday. Last I looked out it was raining pretty hard, which is not a bad thing. We had a wet spring but the last month it has been dry and the grass is looking like August already. Field crops will be glad...
