    Timitus AKA Butterflyitus strikes again

In the imortal wordsof countless BBC childrens TV show presenters, 'Here is one I prepared earlier...' http://www.kipperboxes.co.uk/html/lct_mk_4.html I'm still working up the big model, but I do have a Coreldraw file of the basic shapes in 1:200 if anyone wants a copy; as per the printed...

    Timitus AKA Butterflyitus strikes again

Cool! I have an epidemic named after me! Any other sufferers? I'm currently completely off on a tangent, researching the 79th Armoured Division for a load in my 1:72 scale LCT4. Now there's an ugly vessel.... Worse still, I am building it in polystyrene card; like card, but not made out of...

Charlie, my apologies for appearing dismissive, that wasn't the intention at all! I just meant the depth of a report based on building the model was bound to result in a more substantial document, and that I would personally find that more useful than a shorter pre-build report. I usually end...

    The moderator squeeks

Just to expand slightly on my previous post, I have yet to buy a model as a result of one of the 'Quick Reviews', but I have bought several, Gremir Savage, Mareks Pfalz III for example, as a direct result of seeing the rolling built-up reports. I am sure several other purchases have been made...

I prefer to know how well the kit goes together, it may well look fabulous on the screen or the paper, but unless it goes together properly, it is just a pretty picture. The investment in time IS far more valuable than the financial price of these products. So I would prefer to wait a bit and...

    Creating water with Resin!

If you have to use polyester resins, the usual ones that get hot, do it in layers, making sure you add the next layer as the previous one JUST starts to gel. This way the heat build-up is reduced, it is unlikely to crack, and provided the layers bond together, you won't see the joins; there...

    Some Nice N-Scale UK Models!

Neat! I often wondered why there didn't seem to be any bigger scale paper/card models of Britsh locos and rolling stock available. I'd love to see a Castle or a Hall, with a rake of chocolate and creams, being a Westcountryman born and bred, but there are loads of possible subjects! Oh dear...

    'Using Rhinoceros' Discussion Thread

Hi Gil, UV mapping? That means using bitmaps and meshes, and me and bitmaps don't see eye-to-eye...... If I can avoid them, I will. Don't worry, this is all included as part of the Tutorial 5 Year Plan!! But I will be using vector data, extensively, if that is a hint. Tim P

    'Using Rhinoceros' Discussion Thread

Hmmmm. Brutal fact time!! It depends entirely on your design accuracy requirement criteria. If you are happy with a 'looks OK at arms length' kind of model, then even a 2D coloured silhouette can look very good, while a 1:4 scale replica down to the ASI makers name on the instrument panel, well...

    'Using Rhinoceros' Discussion Thread

Sorry! I used the word 'paint' with a small p, ie software for making it coloured, not 'Paint'.... I agree, CorelDraw and Illustrator are much more appropriate for this sort of work. Don't worry, this aspect of making the model will be tutorialised very soon!! And I use CorelDraw v9. Tim P
