Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all from a damp and gloomy Chicago. Ran trains instead of watching TV last evening after our excitement. Murphy's law was in effect as trolleys and trains derailed or acted oddly. Brutus, tell me more about the station kit you purchased? Is it a hydrocal set? Got to musing more how my...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Great one, Buckeye! Hope everyone had a green day. I missed my corned beef and cabbage. John, I'm still into trolleys! The Atlas units are beauts. Though I'm spoiled by comparing them to the Western Hobbycraft models which I still think are the standard to judge by. Can't beat the price of the...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

And a top 'o the morning to you as well from a cold and grey Chicago. I tested the dead part of the loop I previously mentioned last evening; then just simply replaced all its track and it magically worked. I think there is something physically wrong with something I pulled out, but it all...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Oh boy, 85 - it was barely 35 here. Well, it's coming someday. Had a delightful conversation with Brutus today. Hope to troubleshoot the reverse loop on the layout - part of it is dead and I don't know why.

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Do you know how I might find what cars belonged to the train sets led by a 2-4-2 Grand Trunk Western #8042 and another led by a blue/yellow Santa Fe FA #8351? I have been 'train-sitting' them for my brothers over the years and would like to reconstruct the set cars as a gift for them

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all. Went to all-you-can-eat fish fry last evening and today I regret over-eating. I know Roy's spring break has begun ;) - When is break for the rest of you who have kids around? Ours doesn't begin for another week - next Friday. I still can't believe it's Easter then. Still sunny here...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Tom, I'm sorry to hear of the passing - so suddenly - of your friend. I'll keep his family in my prayers too.

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Good morning all. Pie and company was always welcome. Spent just 15 minutes running the trains last night when everyone was abed and it was great. Lifted my spirits. It was almost as if Friday came early. I highly recommend taking just a few moments if you can. Found a nice Internet radio...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Thanks for the good wishes, Brutus and Kurt. Brutus, I hope you can continue to rest your foot. I'll be right over for a piece of that pie. I didn't do such a bad job at managing dinner tonight. Buckeye, can it be Friday now? I get paid on a Friday and need the money after so many pharmaceutical...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all. Hope everyone has a good day. Supposed to be in the 50s today! Looking forward to getting some Iowa weather from Jon. I'm taking the boy over in a few hours to sign him up for high school. He's excited. The bride isn't feeling well; I think she has some sort of deeper flu if that...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all. Supposed to warm up for a day. Sure wasn't warm at 0-dark-thirty this morning. Tonight's my last class for this quarter - then it starts again (fortunately) in a few weeks. Ran trains again last night. The front coupler I glued on Percy fell off mid-run - it's like the CA didn't...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all. I am encouraged by Tom's photo this morning to think of spring! Can't seem to wake up today - it wasn't helped by the clock I forgot to change that read 400 am. LOL. Ran trains last night whilst everyone was out - and I was home with the youngest who is still sick. No pile-ups...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all. Cold again here. No snow. Back from church. The youngest is mad because I didn't get him a donut. Wants to walk to the shop. Had his dollar bill in his mittened hands, and coat and boots on. Too bad in this day I can't let him walk the 3-4 miles or so to get there... There's no...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all. Hope you are all snug and well. Cold here but blue skies no snow. For once. Yippee! Supposed to be 50 on Monday - well, I'll believe that when it happens. Forgot about day-light savings time. Thanks for the reminder, Dennis! I have chocolate-chip muffins and donuts for all of us.

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all. I'm back! And at work for once. Missed you all. Feeling like myself for the first time this week. Boy, I sure appreciate feeling well. Haven't seen the trains in a while. I hope to catch up with the caboose later in the weekend. I see we're going to miss most of the latest big storm...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all. Got flu from the bride. Even cancelled my class for tonight. Everyone has it except our middle boy - who is proverbially holding the fort. Don't often get sick. Hope this all passes soon.

UK Visit to Mid-Hants & Swanage Railways

Just finished Railway Adventure, a tale of the first two years of the Tallylyn (sp) Railway by one of its society's founders. What an evocative and encouraging read. Enjoy your narrow gauge jaunt. Look forward to hearing about it when you return.

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all. Just back from IHOP for breakfast with the guys. A nice way to start the day. Welcome, Marcie - I used to be N scale before Lionel. A Tenn. coal branch layout sounds neat. I am always inspired whenever I drive I-75 through Ky and Tn. Buckeye, that sounds like a big project. Are...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part IV

Morning all. Can't believe I missed visiting for a whole day. Dennis, my condolences and prayers are with you. Kurt, thanks for the heads-up about the crane. I'm looking for a 'breakdown' crane that would work on 027 curves. Any ideas? Milestone from yesterday: called the high school to arrange...
