High Bridge, KY (Tallest bridge over water in the world at time of construction)

Sounds like a great project. I have crossed that bridge many times going to Eastern Kentucky to visit family but have never seen it from below. Your links would'nt work but I'm excited about seeing them. I had a what turned out to be a bigger project than expected was my Log Dump platform over...

    Maple Valley Logging & Millwork

Thanks Bill for the comments.I found from experience not to wipe the glue when wet. I wait till the oozzies get rubbery or semi hard then cut them out as a piece of glue rather than spread it around when wet. No matter how much I wipe glue some will still manage to get into the grain & show up...

Log Dump Platform for MVL&M Thanks everybody for the replies. I have posted some pics of my Log Dump platform. I built this with scaled cut lumber from Poplar. I had somewhat of a plan but altered as I went. I hand cut 561 pieces that went into this little project. This will sit next to the...

    Walthers Terex Dump Truck

Hey Dave. The white looks good. I really like the hoses, they add a lot to the detail. What kind of paint did you use & what method of spraying did you do. I know from experience the paint in cans other than for modeling like you get at the hardware stores comes out very think & some will eat...

Hey Bill Just got back from a long weekend out of town. The church looks coxy set back next to the mountain. My wife had a nice church scene set back next to a mountain & also an old school house. Every thing she builds is nice & clean. My son & I weather every thing. We nick named her areas...

    Maple Valley Logging & Millwork

Thanks Bill. Yes there will be an opening. I find it easier to plank over the whole wall then make cutouts through the planks & foam core wall material at the same time with a dremel. I will then frame & trim this opening. It also has a small entry with a roof as the logs go into the opening. I...

Looking real good Bill. Hey on that middle leg of that Surrey Parker I was just looking at the one your friend Doc G sent you because I thought that was the one you were modeling. I think she'll still hold up & it looks great. As I tell some people, you can count rivets if you want to but don't...

Looking good Bill especially on the metal details. The proto legs do look very inadequate but by the time this thing gets anchored down by lateral bracing cables to stumps, trees, stakes or whatever didn't move this thing is & had to be very dependable. Actually the only force on these legs was...

Fantastic job on those tongs! My Dad use to tell me "Cain't never did nothin" The first time I heard that I asked him who was Cain't. He said "never mind, he never did nothin". I always felt like if someone else can do it why can't I do it. Like you said show the stuff that works & hide the...

    Maple Valley Logging & Millwork

Thanks Gus. I did check that jig out for making foil roofing. He is doing the same thing that I am but probably is getting more good pieces from his jig. I really want to get my roller type jig done because I really hate having more scrap than usable pieces. I am thinking about tapping sections...

    Maple Valley Logging & Millwork

Thanks Bill & Tom for the reply.I will be setting all this project up as a completed section on 2" blue insulation foam board. I don't have my layout set up anymore due to planning on a larger one. I have an antique 10" Rockwell cast iron table saw I converted to a 5 1/2" using a thin kerf blade...

    Walthers Terex Dump Truck

Hey Raildulderdhd Nice job on the truck. The handrails look great. Did you change the nose piece to be proto? My 15 year old son & I do a lot of vehicle building in the 50's era. These add a lot to a layout especially when others want to know where you found that vehicle because they can't...
