Ocean Gate Titan

I glued this submarine, which became famous mainly because of its unfortunate fate. For me, it is interesting mainly because it is a deep submersible submarine and also because the disaster happened during the dive to the wreck of the Titanic.

A few words about the original:
The company acquired a submersible vessel, Antipodes, and later built two of its own: Cyclops 1 and Titan. In 2021, OceanGate began taking paying tourists in the Titan to visit the wreck of the Titanic. As of 2022, the price to be a passenger on an OceanGate expedition to the Titanic shipwreck was US$250,000 per person.
In June 2023, Titan imploded during a voyage to the Titanic shipwreck site, killing all 5 occupants on board. An international search-and-rescue operation was launched and, on June 22, the wreckage was found on the seabed near the Titanic wreck site.

The model can be downloaded from paperhobby. The hull is quite nicely finished, but the details are missing, so I completed them according to the available photos and the 3D model... I modified the following things:
-ship screws added to all engines
- added 5 reflectors
-glazed visor
- added rivets, antenna and cabling
-I made a simple mat
and that's about it... a few photos:

I can understand why you made this model. The designer was full of hubris, and possibly a knowingly killed those people, as he stated publically that he expected the submersible to fail. I have much experience in composite materials. Nobody makes submersibles out of Carbon Fiber, as it has a high Tensile strength, but a very low compression strength. It was doomed from the beginning. He purchased the expired cold molding fiber strand from Boeing for a very cheap price. It's fortunate that when they crushed into "mud", it was so fast, they ever knew what happened to them.

Nice model. :)

Agree. Titanium or steel yes. Carbon fiber absolutely NOT! Also there is an issue when you compress some material. For instance when Graham Hawkes was making the WASP (see below) when he was initially testing the transparent dome it worked well at depth, but when the pressure was lessened (like when you surface) it cracked then failed.

Just a side note Graham Hawkes is also famous for this gem

And this one the Deep Flight Falcon - which can go down to 300 ft.
